As part of its efforts to enrich artistic practices and cultural exchange, the Japan Directors Association organised two international workshops focused on voice work in 2017 and 2019 in Tokyo. The association is recognised for its commitment to artistic development in Japan. The collaboration with You Yamagami was essential to the success of this project.

This event enabled Japanese actors to discover and experiment with the innovative method developed by Nadine George, founder of Voice Studio International in London.

The aim of the workshop was to promote intercultural exchange in the field of theatre and vocal training and to strengthen cooperation between Japanese and international performing arts professionals.

Japanese actors benefited from practical workshops led by Laurent Courtin. Vocal work focused on freeing the voice and developing a deep understanding of the body was at the heart of this training. Innovative exercises allowed participants to explore their vocal potential while integrating techniques from contemporary pedagogy.

The workshops offered at Tokyo for the year 2026 are currently being prepared.
